Hundreds enjoy Hotham's annual concert
Well over a thousand prom-goers packed an
area of Hotham Park in Bognor Regis for its annual evening concert. The
turnout for the latest Proms in the Park last Saturday was the best in
years. Some 1300-1400 people are believed to have enjoyed the two hours of
music from the Bognor Regis Concert Band.
Organiser Sue Holmes, the events officer of
Bognor Regis Town Council, said; "It was a beautiful evening and the
atmosphere was very good. We had a very good turnout. People were there
two-and-a-half hours before the start when we turned up to set things up.
There were some wonderful picnics to be seen and lots and lots of flag
waving, of all sizes, towards the end of the concert."
The first half of the programme, sponsored
by Autumn Lodge, saw the musicians play pieces by Goff Richards, Rimsky-Korsakov and King Henry VIII.
This was followed by a second half with the traditional favourites of Pomp and Circumstance March Number
One,
Jerusalem and Sussex by the Sea.
