Bognor Proms attract concert-goers from far and wide
Concert-goers came
from as far afield as the Channel Islands for the annual Proms in the Park
in Bognor Regis. A party of about 20 holidaymakers from Alderney decided
to join in the annual patriotic evening of music in Hotham Park. They were
among some 1,000 people who turned out as the sun began to go down on the
park's bandstand.
Musicians from
Bognor Regis Concert Band, under the leadership of Howard Burchfield, kept
them well entertained.
Bognor Regis Town
Council organised Saturday's flag-waving occasion. Events officer Sue
Holmes said: "The first group of people turned up to claim their seats at
5.30pm, two hours before the start of the concert, and set themselves up
with their picnic. Everyone had a good time. The second half of the
concert had people up on their feet and waving flags and singing along."
The two-hour
concert closed with classics such as Pomp and Circumstance March No 1,
Sussex by the Sea and Jerusalem
