About the Band From humble beginnings of just six instrumentalists in 1986, Bognor Regis Concert Band has grown in both size and reputation and today displays the combined musical talent of over thirty local musicians. Our musicians include amateurs, semi-professional players, teachers and students. We are a community band in every sense! You can read more about the history of the band here.
Instruments It can be said that a Concert Band is similar to an orchestra, but with an enlarged clarinet and saxophone section replacing the strings. This is different to a "Big Band", "Brass Band" or "Marching Band". The instruments that make up a concert band include, but are not completely limited to Flutes, Piccolos, Clarinets (Bb, Alto and Bass), Saxophones (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone), Trumpets, Cornets, French Horns, Euphoniums, Trombones, Tubas, String Bass, Drum Kit and Tuned Percussion.
Repertoire Due to the versatility of the Concert Band format, there is a wide range of music arranged for it. Our repertoire includes marches, Classical favourites, Pop, Jazz, Swing, TV, Film and Show Music. We aim to play music to suit all tastes.
